Nigeria to partner Poland on clean technology

Nigeria and Poland have agreed to work together on the deployment of clean technology to improve standard of living of their citizenry, Minister of State, Science and Technology, Mohammed Abdullahi has said. 

Abdullahi, who disclosed this during a courtesy call to him in his office in Abuja, by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Nigeria, Mrs. Joanna Tarnawska, said the partnership between both countries would help to create a strong, sustainable and competitive economy.

The minister who stressed that Nigeria is desirous of making her economy knowledge –based and innovation–driven, explained that the country would gain much from Poland’s experience in science and technology. 

According to him, the partnership was for the benefits of both countries.  “We share a lot of things in common with Poland. We want to leverage on Poland’s experience in the area of technology. We will also collaborate with them on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes which means our researchers will benefits a lot from the partnership,” he said. 

Earlier, the ambassador pledged the support of Poland in the development of STEM related innovation in Nigeria. Specifically, Tarnawska, who said both countries enjoy longstanding, multifaceted and friendly relations, added that the area of partnership would include development of green technology, entrepreneurship and skills acquisition.
