One of the family compound title holders in Ibadanland (Mogaji), Chief Waheed Gbolagade Kosoko, Mogaji Kosoko Family, has been stripped of the title and ordered never to parade himself as one anymore.

This was contained in a letter dated December 27, 2022 and signed by Secretary of the Olubadan Advisory Council, Mr. Kamorudeen Liasu.

According to Oladele Ogunsola, Personal Assistant (Media) to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, yesterday, the letter, titled “Revocation of Appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family,” accused the Mogaji of using abusive language on Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola.

The letter reads in part: “The attention of Kabiyesi Olubadan of Ibadanland has been drawn to the act of mischief, insubordination, use of abusive language, as well as threat to life of Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, by you.

“These acts are contrary to and punishable under the Chiefs Law. Aside, sources further disclosed that you are in possession of two different letters of appointment appointing you as (i) Mogaji Kosoko Family and (ii) Mogaji Kosoko Onilabu family, both dated January 9, 2017 while records from the office shows your appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family and not Onilabu Family.

“The Council viewed your acts as forgery and misleading. In effect, therefore, the Council at its meeting held on Monday, December 19, 2022, resolved that your appointment as Mogaji Kosoko Family is hereby revoked, that the letter dated January 9, 2017 or any letter purportedly appointing you as Mogaji Kosoko is hereby withdrawn and declared as null and void.

“That you should stop parading yourself in the community as Mogaji Kosoko Family forthwith.”
