Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) has said that 67,317 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are yet to be collected in the state, noting that KESIEC “gives PVCs out to their rightful owners” and not by proxy.

Speaking with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, yesterday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ahmad Mahmud, expressed worry over the non-collection of PVCs in the state.

He stated: “In those days, we gave PVCs to party agents and district or village heads to give to the owners in their various villages; but these days, such practice is no longer tenable. You have to come forward and collect it yourself.

“We have emphasised in many fora that there is no more distribution of voter cards; what we have now is a collection. Come and collect your own card; don’t send anybody.”

On the issue of multiple registrations, the REC explained that the kind of machines available now is capable of detecting double registration; hence, nobody can register more than once.
