•FRSC deploys over 1000 personnel for special patrol in Anambra
To secure life and property, especially during the Easter celebrations, the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed its personnel to locations based on available security intelligence information.
NSCDC further noted that it is collaborating with other security agencies in the state to ensure Abia state remains safe before, during and after the Easter Celebration.
The Commandant, Ayinla Olowo, who made this known, yesterday, after he held what he called a crucial management team meeting, appreciated the Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for ensuring that Abia State Command of NSCDC got a fair share in the recently concluded personnel recruitment.
He, therefore, charged the state recruits, whom he said were already undergoing training, to be focused, adding that their training, would strictly follow the Harmonised Basic Training and thereafter exposed them to more trainings in batches at the various NSCDC Training Colleges.
ALSO, ahead of Easter celebration, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra state said it has deployed over 1000 personnel for special patrols across the state.
In a press briefing in Awka, yesterday, the Anambra state Sector Commander, FRSC, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, restated its commitment to ensure peaceful and free vehicular movement in the state during the celebration.
He equally gave the assurance they were not deterred by the insecurity in the state. Giving the breakdown, he said those deployed include 420 regular marshals and 604 special marshals, adding that they have commenced patrolling all towns and communities from April 13 to 20, 2022.
Irelewuyi revealed that the exercise is in anticipation of expected increase in traffic gridlock during the Easter celebrations, and, as such, we have commenced what we call Easter Special patrol.
Irelewuyi assured the morale of personnel is not in anyway dampened, insisting that his men are committed to creating a safer motoring environment.
He vowed that his officers and men would not stop to do their job no matter the cost, as all they are trying to do is to save lives.
He pointed out that FRSC officials are working in collaboration with other sister agencies to ensure that his men are given security, even though they do not bear arms.
On the fatal road crash, which claimed the lives of five persons last Wednesday, he noted that the time of the crash indicated there was a rainstorm and it was in the night. He said that these two factors combined together are very challenging in any driving situation.
