He said the detractors were bent on their mischief by circulating an old video of a primary election in Akwa Ibom State, as according to him, they mischievously captioned and passed it off as an altercation involving Governor Obaseki.
It must be stated that the intent of the purveyors of the video is patently malicious as it is obvious that the man, who is wrongly identified as Obaseki in the said video, bears no resemblance with the governor.
Findings have revealed that the video captured two prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) arguing at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium during the 2015 PDP primary election.
He said the development, once again, pointed to the grave consequences of fake news and alternative facts, which mischief-makers exploit to push misinformation and public apathy.
Members of the public are enjoined to disregard the reference to Governor Obaseki and be wary of similar attempts at misinformation through doctored and misleading content in the future.
