Contrary to speculations, the All Progressives Congress, APC, congresses scheduled for Saturday, July 31, 2021 will hold according to plan in Kwara State.

The state chairman, caretaker committe of the party, Abdullahi Samari, confirmed to DAILY POST in a phone chat in Ilorin on Thursday.

“We are seriously busy preparing for a hitch-free exercise and there is no going back,” he said.

On the implications of the Ondo state Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s Supreme Court judgement, Samari said ” It will have no effect on the party.

“If you read the content of the judgement well, you will know it has no implication on us at all,” he stated.

On its part, the faction loyal to the embattled Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed and Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, confirmed collection of nomination forms at the state party secretariat by its members in readiness for the Saturday congresses.

DAILY POST reports that with the latest development, the issue of possible parallel congresses being speculated across the state as a result of the protracted party crisis, has been overruled.

The faction also called for the reinstatement of Bolarinwa as the state caretaker committee chairman in view of the latest Supreme Court judgement which confirmed the victory of Governor Akeredolu in the last election.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Supreme Court ruling on Jegede VS Akeredolu election, should be bold enough on the wall of Justice that Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa’s chairmanship is solid in law as the Rock of Gibraltar.”

The faction, at a press conference on Thursday in Ilorin, addressed by Barrister Ladi Mustapha, blamed the national leadership of the party for the crisis rocking the party in Kwara state currently.

“They have tried all the tricks in the book to pervert the cause of justice on issues, but our God is a God of justice,” the group stated.
